Fashion illustrations: Laura Laine

As fashion and art are my greatest passion, I decided to post here sometimes the fashion illustrations. Today I want to show you the works of a talented illustrator Laura Laine. I instantly fell in love with these black-and-white drawings and smooth lines. A young woman from Helsinki has already reached a career and worked with magazines and shops like Zara, Tommy Hilfiger, H & M, Iben Hoej, Daniel Palillo, The New York Times Magazine, Elle Girl, The Guardian, and Páp Magazine. She has her own unique style, Laura skillfully emphasizes the details. Every girl on her drawings has her own character. And how do you like her illustrations?

Т.к. Zara, Tommy Hilfiger, H&M, Iben Hoej, Daniel Palillo, The New York Times Magazine, Elle Girl, The Guardian и Páp Magazine.

Albert Watson

Last week I visited an exhibition of Albert Watson photography in Hamburg. Albert Watson is a Scottish photographer well known for his fashion, celebrity and art photography. He has shot over 200 covers of Vogue and 40 covers of Rolling Stone magazine. To be honest, I didn’t know about him before, but as it turned out, I saw many of his pictures. The exhibition was held under the name “Cotton made in Africa” and included a new series of photographs taken in Benin. But also there were a lot of portraits of celebrities and Rolling Stone magazines. I loved it so much, great exhibition, beautiful photos!

Hundertwasser Exhibition

At the moment an exhibition of an Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser takes place in our city. I'm not a fan of abstract art, but nonetheless I really liked it. A very beautiful combination of colors and shapes, very bright colors, and the originals look much better than the reproductions. It was interesting to read the names of the pictures, often I would not guess what is shown in the picture without them.

I especially liked the "life line." 1959 Hundertwasser with his students painted the room completely with one continuous line; it is called the Line of Hamburg. For this exhibition, the students of our University of Arts under the supervision of one of our professors repeated this experiment and painted the room in the museum with one line. I also wanted to take part in this experiment, but I had no time that day.

It wasn’t allowed to take picture in the museum, but I bought a wonderful book about Hundertwasser, here are some pictures from there. Click to see more.

Elliott Erwitt

As I can remember, at the beginning I conceived my blog as a narration about the things I love most - fashion, travel and art, especially street art. But in the end it turned into a just another fashion blog. Not good. I have already begun to share you photos of my favorite books, so I will continue it. Today I want to introduce to you one of my favorite photographers - Elliott Erwitt. A year ago there was an exhibition of his works in our city, but I couldn’t visit it. But I got this wonderful album. In my opinion, his photos are brilliant!

unÜBERSEEbar!

Last Friday I visited the art & fashion festival „unÜBERSEEbar!“ in Hamburg. Unfortunately I couldn’t see the catwalk on Saturday and workshops at the opening of festival, but I have seen the exhibition of young fashion photographers and bloggers. It was great, I enjoyed it very much. And of course I have documented it for you. It's worth to see, click on "read more"!

This is another work made by me this semester. A light installation “Night garden” was presented at the exhibition at the University of Arts Bremen. I played with shadows using 4 projectors from different sides and many colored filters.

Berlin, du bist so wunderbar

Last weekend I was in Berlin. As I was there not the first time, I haven’t visited the standard tourist destinations. But this time I’ve visited Tacheles - it is an abandoned building, which houses studios of artists, designers and other creative people. I really liked this place and the creative atmosphere. It wasn’t allowed to make photos inside the studios, so I just took pictures from the outside.

I have already started to post the pictures from some of my favorite books before and I want to continue this. Today I’m going to show you the book “Dreads” by Francesco Mastalia, Alfonce Pagano and Alice Walker. I’m a big fan of dreadlocks, I always wanted to have my hair like this, but I think I will never take a chance to do it.  I really like this book, it’s not only about dreads but it’s also a collection of a great photography work.

Luminale 2012

As may be some of you know, Luminale - a festival of light took place in Frankfurt recently. I couldn’t go there, but some of my classmates have visited Luminale and showed the photos they made there. Illuminated buildings, light installations in urban area, exhibitions with new technologies and creative ideas… It was amazing! I selected some photos from the internet, but there were also more interesting things. Please check the blog where our course shares impressions from this event: http://lichtlabor.blogspot.de/
